Ramadan 1442

Ramadan Mubarak!! We’re almost to the end of the first week of Ramadan and it still doesn’t feel like Ramadan. I’m not sure if that’s just me or you guys feel that too.

Last year was a very different Ramadan, the Masjids were closed here and everyone was in lockdown. This year, although the lockdown has been lifted and the mosques are open, it still feels like something is missing. Is it that solitude and solace or that motivation everybody had to build in their homes themselves so as not to lose the essence of Ramadan amidst the whole pandemic.

“Whenever you are alone remind yourself that Allah has sent everyone away so that there is only you and him .”

RUMI

For me personally, last Ramadan was the best one. I was all alone, and with not having work I could stay up all night to focus on my ibadah. I had managed to pray all the Taraweeh at home without feeling tired or sleepy and each salah was very personal and close to the heart. The connection developed with Allah was of closeness and awareness of Him.

Praying at the masjid is definitely great and creates a sense of unity, which is necessary but during the salah, the pace is different than it would be when you are having a one on one conversation with Allah. But then again, that’s what the sunnah prayers are for.

This year, my emphasis is on enhancing my relationship with Allah by studying His Names and Attributes resulting in a better and deeper knowledge of Him as well as developing a deeper understanding of the Quran by studying Tafseer and listening to lectures of the stories and lessons of each Juz.  Insha’Allah I will share all that I have learned, here on my website one by one, so that you may benefit as well.

I pray that Allah makes this Ramadan one to remember and to make it beneficial for us and for us to leave Ramadan with His mercy and Forgiveness. May this Ramadan change our hearts for the better and May we be blessed with the opportunity to experience Laylat ul Qadar. Ameen
